03 - 1 tablespoon brown sugar (or maple syrup)

→ Fats

04 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)

04 - Place banana slices in a single layer in the skillet. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the tops.
05 - Cook for 2–3 minutes until the undersides are golden brown and caramelized.
06 - Carefully flip each banana slice and cook for another 2 minutes until golden on the second side.
07 - Remove from heat and serve warm. Top with nuts, honey, or yogurt/ice cream if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • You probably have everything in your kitchen right now
  • The way the sugar melts into the bananas creates a sauce all on its own
  • Feels fancy enough for dinner guests but quick enough for Tuesday nights
02 -
  • Overripe bananas will turn to mush the second they hit the pan
  • Do not crowd the skillet or the bananas will steam instead of caramelize
03 -
  • A splash of vanilla extract in the butter right before the bananas hit the pan transforms the aroma completely
  • These reheat surprisingly well in a warm oven for about 5 minutes if you need to make them ahead
