Dirt Pudding Chocolate Cookie Layers (Print)

Creamy chocolate pudding layered with crushed cookies and gummy worms for a fun no-bake treat.

# What You Need:

→ Pudding Layer

01 - 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
02 - 2 cups cold milk
03 - 1 cup whipped topping, thawed

→ Cookie Dirt

04 - 18 chocolate sandwich cookies, finely crushed

→ Decorations

05 - 12 gummy worms

# How To Make It:

01 - Whisk together instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk in a large mixing bowl for 2 minutes until mixture thickens noticeably.
02 - Gently fold whipped topping into pudding mixture until fully incorporated and smooth, taking care not to overmix and deflate the mixture.
03 - Crush chocolate sandwich cookies using a food processor or by placing in a zip-top bag and rolling with a rolling pin until fine crumbs resemble dirt texture.
04 - Spoon cookie crumbs into bottom of 6 serving cups or jars. Add layer of chocolate pudding mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with generous topping of cookie crumbs to completely cover the pudding surface.
05 - Place 2 gummy worms into each cup, positioning them to partially emerge from the cookie dirt for a whimsical crawling effect.
06 - Refrigerate assembled cups for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and achieve optimal texture before serving.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Nobody expects to fall in love with something called Dirt Pudding until that first spoonful hits them
  • You get all the credit for a cute fun dessert while actually doing almost zero real cooking
02 -
  • Don't even think about skipping the chill time because warm pudding with crushed cookies is just sad mushy disappointment
  • Cover your cups if chilling longer than a few hours or the cookies start absorbing moisture and lose that perfect dirt texture
03 -
  • Use a food processor for the most dirt like crumbs but rolling pin therapy works if you need to work out some frustration
  • The little plastic sandwich bags of pre crushed Oreos exist now and I'm not ashamed to admit I've used them in a pinch
